Don't Bother Your Head ...

Hello this morning! Phew, it is a humid one isn't it?

I have been pondering Psalm 37 since yesterday - and all of its "fret nots".
Fret not - meaning to wait on God letting Him have whatever is "worrying" you - He is in control - He will look after it all!
Do you believe that today? I truly hope so!

The Message says in Psalm 37 verse 1 - "Don't bother your head with..."! I love this! Isn't that what worry does? Gets your head - your mind - going in all directions and focusing on the "what ifs" instead of  "what is"! "BUT" - you say - "I am a worrier. My mom worried all the time and I can't help it". NOT TRUE! You CAN change it.

Romans 12:2 (EST) - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, ...
Do you see that? ... "by the renewal of your mind". The Holy Spirit living in and working in you can transform your mind! Praise the Lord! Every time you find yourself beginning to fret give it to God... Trust Him, Rely on Him, Commit your way yo Him.

Father God,
Thank You for the peace that comes from You; that peace that is beyond our understanding.
We Praise You today for Your Grace and Forgiveness.
Father, may each Reader today take Your Word to heart and rest in You!
In Jesus Precious name, Amen.

Blessings and Peace,
Ruthie

The LORD Is In This Place!

Genesis 28:16
Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it."

Are you aware of HIS Presence throughout your day?
Do you KNOW HE IS IN that place whereever you are?
Or are you like Jacob - and you awaken ... whether from sleep or from the daily grind - and suddenly become aware that HE is here?

I am currently reading the book "One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to LIVE FULLY Right Where You Are"  by Ann Voskamp. I highly recommend this book - she also has a blog which you will find at www.aholyexperience.com

It is due to her inspiration that I began to faithfully attempt to Live Life Fully! Right Now! On my 60th birthday - almost 3 years ago now - a friend gave me a beautiful journal that I began to journal my thanks in. Over the years I had done this as part of my daily journaling ... but never numerically and never a journal specifically just for thanks! What an experience this has been! Some of these I have recorded on this blog as part of "One Thousand Gifts".

This whole experience has enabled me to say - with Jacob - "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it."

Just today ... within the hour ...
# 637. RAIN - coming straight down from heaven - like a thick curtain.
# 638. the SOUND of rain - as it hits the road outside my window.

And as I read Ann's book these words of hers jump off the page and touch my heart ...
"The weight of God's glory, not illusory or ephemeral, but daily and everywhere, punctures earth's lid and heaven falls through the holes."

Oh dear ones - may heaven fall thru the holes for you today! May you see and experience HIS glory all around you!
Blessings sweet ones!

You've Got Mail!!!!!

It's everywhere.... and I've bought into it! Have you?
E-mail; FaceBook; Texting; Twittering (I don't do this one); Blackberry; iPhone...
And on and on it goes!

Since getting my BlackBerry I have become aware of every time I get an email or a post on FB...
Along with all the "external" messages we get there is that INTERNAL stuff! The messages we tell ourselves - in our minds - daily.

Lately I've been thinking about all this in relation to the mail - the letters - HIS Written Word .... to me - to us! I don't get an electronic "ping" everytime HE sends me a note... IT IS ALWAYS THERE - for me to go to. What a BLESSING that is to me! Just KNOWING that - BUT - How much more of a BLESSING it is everytime I STOP, READ, MEDITATE, LISTEN to HIS mail! His Word!

He not only speaks thru HIS Word; He speaks thru HIS People; HE speaks HIMSELF! Into our hearts and our spirits!
Psalm 27: 8 ... My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming."

Dear Ones,
Set the FB, BB, iPhone, Laptop, and all that stuff - set it aside for a while today. Listen for HIS voice, HIS whisper into your heart. Contemplate HIS goodness and Who He Is! Allow HIS Word to penetrate your spirit; to bring you Life!

This is my prayer for myself and for each of you as I REST in HIS Awesomeness and Peace!
Blessings,
Ruthie

"In The Midst of YOU..."

I had a revelation this morning --- as I listened to this beautiful song!!!
So often, I have used the words - in the midst - to describe HIS Presence with me in the midst of my daily victories and strugggles!

In this song the singer states... "I'm finding myself in the midst of You" ....
Oh! How those words hit my spirit!

How I long to be "in the midst of HIM"!
Quiet!
At a Loss for words!
Listening!
Hearing His Voice!
Basking in His Presence!
- His Love!
- His Peace!
- His Strength!
- His Comfort!
- His Security!
- His Rest!
- His Joy!

Come, Sweet Jesus! May I find myself in the midst of You today!

PEACE

Happy First day of Spring!
It's a beautiful day here... chilly but sunny; birds are lovin' it cuz they are singing away! Puppy is running around outside and lovin' that!
And I'm filled with HIS peace!
Hallelujah!

This picture of hubby and puppy - heading towards one of the most beautiful beaches ever - brings me joy and peace....
For God is in control of all!
I rest in His promises and His provision!
He is faithful!

JOY!

Singing this morning....
"I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart..
where?
down in my heart
where?
down in my heart!"......

You get the picture...Right?

JOY - keen pleasure or delight; calm delight.

I am soooo thankful today for the calm delight I have in my Lord and Savior!
In the midst of all the "stuff" He has given me His Joy!
Praise His Name!

Determined to keep my focus on all those things that are true and noble and pure and lovely -
(Phil. 4:8) ...
The "joy stealer" isn't havin' any of me today!
Hallelujah!

May your day be filled with peace and joy in the Lord.
May the SON be in your heart!
Blessings sweet ones!
Resting in HIM,

Blessed Assurance....

Do you have Blessed Assurance?

This refrain has been running thru my head this evening...
"This is my story, This is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long"...
I could not recall the hymn itself so I "googled it" - what did we do before we had "google" to run to?

It is the hymn - Blessed Assurance written in 1873 by Fanny Crosby - a wonderful songwriter who gave us many (over 8000) old hymns that are so precious to us... Fanny became blind at the age of 6 weeks of age due to the mistreatments of a doctor for a cold and puffy eyes. She chose to live her life with a positive, thankful attitude -

At the age of 12 she wrote these words:
O, what a happy child I am
Although I cannot see!
I am resolved that in this world
Contented I will be.

WHOA!
Ruthie --- how about making theses words yours? "I am resolved that in this world, contented I will be."
Reader - what about you doing the same?

Oh my dear friend!
Jesus is mine!
He has given me all I need!
He gives me Rest!
He gives me Peace!
He gives me strength!
He gives me love and forgiveness!
HE will do the same for you!

I have been on a journey of late and as the days progress I will share with you what Christ has been doing in my life and in me!
I am so thankful for the assurance I have in Him.

Blessings on you this day!
Resting in HIM,
Ruthie

PEACE --- SHALOM

Peace.
They say God gives peace.
Uhmmmmm.
Wish I could have peace.
My mind is so full of "stuff".
My life is crazy.
How will I ever see my way clear of this situation.
I just have too much to do.
I don't have enough money this month to pay the bills.
The kids are acting out and I don't know how to keep them under control.
He hit me again. I need help!
My babe is sick again.
Oh no! Here he comes and he's been drinking again.
"She" called again... what am I going to do?
They found drugs in Johnny's locker at school.
A grandmother? At my age? This can't be happening to me - to us.

and on and on it goes......
Do these comments conjure up any familair scenarios for you? Maybe they remind you of your present situation. Maybe they remind you of a time past when your felt that peace could never be yours.
I want you to know, dear ones, that God's peace CAN rule in your heart. If your life is full of anxiety and distress - no matter the cause - you CAN have PEACE... the peace of God that surpasses all understanding! And you CAN have it "in the midst"....

Isaiah 9:6 tells us that Jesus is the "Prince of Peace".

John 14:27 - "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Romans 5:1 - Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Psalm 139:9-10
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are with us always! Praise the Lord!
These verses just thrill my soul.
I - you - we - can KNOW that He is always with us - guiding and holding us! He is our Safety, our Rock, our Refuge, our Salvation!
Hallelujah!
How do we "get" His peace?
1 Peter 3:11 tells us we must seek it and pursue it. That tells me that I must take some action here.

Isaiah 26:3 tells me that He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is focused on Him and who trusts Him. Again - action is required.

Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

and finally -

Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Dear one - God has a peace for you that is indescribable - that is hard to understand until you experience it. However, you must seek after Him; trust Him; give every thing to Him. Tell the enemy to get away; fill your mind with Scripture and with all those things that are true and noble and pure and lovely (Philippians 4:8).

Has God been speaking to your heart today? If He has, I trust you will take some quiet time to spend with Him and allow Him to fill you with His Peace.

May His peace be yours today!

Grace & Peace...

Grace and Peace be yours in abundance.
1 Peter 1:2

I have been reading 1 Peter - a letter of encouragement - in preparation for some Small Group lessons I'm preparing. This particular part of verse 2 has resonated with me a lot these past few days.
Oh how I need - how I desire - HIS Grace and Peace in abundance!

  • driving in heavy rains in a vehicle I'm not used to driving

  • constant interaction with an almost 7 year old - whom I love dearly! - and a 4 month old puppy!

  • a hubby who raises free-range chickens and turkeys (among other animals) - the turkeys in preparation for Thanksgiving which is this weekend ...and he runs in the house at 9 a.m. needing his cash b/c there are people lined up at the shop to buy their turkeys and he's trying to "feed the farm" and ......

  • drivers who don't know or don't adhere to the rules of the road!

  • grocery shopping - one thing I don't like to do!

  • a puppy who still doesn't know to do his duties outside.... (I guess that's my fault)

  • a phone that never stops ringing (b/c people want their turkeys!) :)

  • and on it goes!
So I stop - and ask for His grace and Peace in abundance... Fill me with Your Holy Spirit Lord so I can be gracious and peaceful in the midst! I ask for Him to fill my hubby - to give him grace and peace in abundance.

This is my prayer for you all as well! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend - and remember this - "There is always, always, always something to be thankful for!" Check out the label "one Thousand Gifts" - there you'll find the beginning of my list of 1000 things to be thankful for!

Grace and Peace,

THUNDER!

An hour or so ago I looked out the windows that look out over the "back forty" and the sky was very dark "over there"; however, the sun was slightly shining here by the house. It was almost eerie - certainly knew that something was brewing in the air! Now it is pouring rain ... and thundering!

It is very quiet in the house - no music; just me and the pup; and he's sleeping; and the sound of thunder outside. I LOVE to hear it thunder - I'm not too crazy about the lightening but, hey, guess you can't have one without the other. To me Thunder & Lightening are an expression of God's power - He made a way for them both ...

Job 28:25-26 When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters,
when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm.....

Exodus 9:23
When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightening flashed down to the ground.

John 12:28-29
"Father, glorify your name."
Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it and I will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

The thunder is a reminder for me that God is All-Powerful!
He is Everywhere!
He is Mighty!
He is the Almighty!
May it be a reminder for you today as you face the trials life has brought your way!

Job 26:14 - Who then can understand the thunder of his power? Blessings on you today!

My Healer!

I heard a song for the first time the other day... the words resonated with my soul and I began to sing them in my heart daily. This may be an old song - it may not ... I heard it for the first time only recently.

HEALER!
sung by Kari Jobe

chorus :
I believe You're my healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe...
I believe you're my portion
I believe you're more than enough for me
Jesus, you're all I need.

This is one of those worshipful songs that compels me to stop whatever I am doing and praise God! And tell Him that I DO believe with all my heart that He Is All I Need.
About 6 weeks ago I talked to you about the chronic pain I have had for over a year - and how I had a conversation with God one morning about increasing my faith and asking for healing.

I have not prayed every day for healing - but I have done so as I have felt led to do so!
And - I am saying PRAISE GOD!
For the past 2 - 3 weeks the pain has been so minimal that I hardly notice it most days! Hallelujah!!!!
I am sleeping better; have less wakeful nights; and have more energy daily; (hence 4 batches of pickles in 4 days, walking the dog, and some volunteer work in there as well!); am able to walk down the stairs in the morning without feeling like I'm 92 years old!
Thank You, Jesus!!!

He IS all I need... He is all any of us need!
May your hearts be turned towards Him today and over the weekend!
May He be a constant Presence in your life!
May His Peace fill your soul!

Here is a link to a video of Kari singing Healer - The pictures are awesome! I hope you will take a few moments, go there, and let God minister to your heart!

“I AM”

Recorded in the Gospel of John,
are seven times when Jesus uses the words “I am”.

There are two things here that spark an interest of mine...
One being the number 7 and its use in scripture;
the other being the words “I AM”.

For now, I will tell you that the number 7 has three fundamental meanings:
· Full
· Complete
· Oath

And the number seven is scattered throughout His Word!
Why did He do that?

HUMMMMMMMMM...
That’s for another time!

This is by no means an exhaustive writing on the I AMs of Jesus
as recorded by John. My desire is to introduce them to you, and for you to spend some time studying them and what they mean to you!

· John 6:48 – Bread of Life
· John 8:12 – Light of the World
· John 10:9 – The Door
· John 10:11 – The Good Shepherd
· John 11:25 – Resurrection and Life
· John 14:6 – The Way, The Truth, The Life
· John 15:1 – True Vine

Just seeing those in print as a “list” makes me grateful,
and I can’t go on writing without thanking Him for Who He Is!
Thank You, Father for your provision for us thru Your Son!

Can you imagine living without sustenance, light, protection,
knowledge and truth,
connection, heaven?
I can’t!

There was a time in my life when I looked upon the “church” with some disdain! I bought into the thinking that Christians were hypocrites;
that this life was all there was anyway, so why did it matter?
Then a lady came into my life who lived her Christianity...
She showed love to everyone; had compassion and grace;
she modeled what the Christian life was all about.
The more time we spent together, the more I desired her peace,
her confidence, her grace, her gentleness.
I witnessed people ridicule her for her faith...
not to her face but behind her back...
She knew this though and she persevered!

I KNOW with all my heart that God was not willing that I should perish
and that He was drawing me to Himself!
Thank you, LORD!

At about this same time I began to hear that Jesus loved me!
That He is the Way, the Truth, the Life;
He is the Bread of Life;
The Good Shepherd;
The Door;
The Vine;
Resurrection and Life – eternity in heaven!
That He would bring Light, Peace, Joy, Confidence into my life!

I am (me - Ruthie) so thankful for HIS I AM(s)...
May they bless you today!
Meditate on these Scriptures and let them fill your heart with HIM!

Joy and Peace to you today!

The Prince of Peace

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This child came to earth, lived here among us;
His love for us was so great He went to Calvary.

My heart aches when I think of what He did for me –
for all people of the world.
My eyes fill with tears when I recall how unworthy I am.

My life –
A winding road of longing,
searching for fulfillment –
Only to be found in HIM;
Only to be found when I fully surrendered to HIM.

Such peace He gives!
The longing is gone!
The search is over!

I sense a fullness,
a completeness,
a peace I’ve never felt before.
I praise Him for His presence,
for the peace that only He can give.

People seek to fill their emptiness
with things and ‘busy-ness’...
The Prince of Peace is waiting to fill that hole!
He alone gives love, peace, Himself!
Praise His name!

I penned the above ‘poem’ [I use that term loosely] in
late fall of 1995-
I was facing another Christmas season – alone.
By “alone” I mean this was my 2nd Christmas since
I had been divorced.
But I certainly was not alone!
My beautiful daughter was coming home;
I had friends, and family times to prepare for and others to attend.

Most of all –
I had Jesus!
I KNEW He was there...
I KNEW He loved me...
I had His Peace! And I had His Grace!
I had asked Him to give me the Grace to accept my circumstances,
and His Peace and Presence to fill my heart!
He answered my prayer!
WHOO HOO!
And I was so thankful for that!
I just had to share that with Him from a grateful heart!

The Christmas season never approaches that I don’t recall this time in my life ...
He has blessed me so!
He has done marvellous things!
I stand in awe of Him!
And I am so thankful for Him and to Him!

I cannot reflect on Christmas without reflecting
on the CROSS!
For a few years we placed a lighted Cross on the barn roof;
people would tell us they could see it from a long distance away.
Some would ask why a cross at Christmas...
we then could tell them the “Reason for the Season”!

For the past couple years I have seen a Cross lit up
across Lake Milo! This just thrills my heart!
My heartfelt prayer at this time of year is for people who don’t know Him
to realize that He truly is the REASON for everything!

If you are reading this today and you do not Know Jesus
as your personal Savior,
please,
contact me or someone you know who can help you to find the answers
to your questions!
He is the Answer!
If you do Know Him, and have a personal relationship with Him,
I pray that this time of year will encourage you
and increase you faith.

Father God,
I pray today for those who are searching for love, peace, hope, and joy.
I commit them to Your tender care.
I know You love them; You can give them what they’re longing for.
May your Holy Spirit draw them to You this Christmas Season.
May they hear Your Word and come to know that You love them;
give their lives over to You;
and experience the love, peace, hope, and joy, that only comes from You!
In the Precious Name of Jesus I pray,
Amen.

Resting in HIM,
Ruthie

Gentle Shepherd

Gentle Shepherd

I feel led to give you this poem today –
I cannot take any credit for it –
Nor would I want to!

This poem spoke to me a few years ago -
I copied it and placed it on the inside cover of my Bible,
and I read it quite often!

The words are so precious to my heart –
I pray that someone reading this may see God for Who He really is
and come to love Him with all their hearts!

Blessings to you all
Ruthie

THE RAINBOW

And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I have made
between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you,
for perpetual generations:
I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be the sign of the covenant
between Me and the earth
Genesis 9:12-13

God made a covenant with Noah and all the living things on the earth
that there would never be a flood on earth such as the
one described in Chapters 6-8 of Genesis.
I encourage you to read this account for yourselves!

I get excited when I see a rainbow – such a beautiful creation –
I’m always reminded of my Heavenly Father and His promises to me!

I see it as a symbol of His love for the world;
to this world that rejects Him and denies Him!

It reminds me of His grace and His love for me;
Reminds me of the sacrifice Christ made for me – for us all –
on the Cross of Calvary!
And my heart overflows with thanksgiving for His Salvation!

The other evening – right after supper –
the rain began – and it came down with great force!
Just pelting straight down, pounding on our deck!
The sun was still shining in the west and I could see blue sky -
Silly me!
I ran around the house looking out all the windows,
looking for a rainbow ... but I couldn’t find one!

I love to hear the rain come down and this evening was no exception.
And, of course, my mind reflected on another memory –
A Precious Memory –
of God’s hand in my life.

This one I’d like to share with you....

In 1994 my younger brother (Reigh) was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer.
We had always been quite close and at this time he was living in Halifax.
He was not given a very long time to live (a couple months) –
and was told to get his affairs in order.
He came home to talk to me because he had decided not to undergo treatment.
He opted to try some natural remedies.
Of course, being a nurse, I came from the “medical model”
and wanted him to try every treatment available!

Long story short – he took sick leave from his job;
began seeing a naturopathic doctor and using natural remedies -
and lived a quality life for the next 18 months.
The medical community was amazed!

In the spring of 1996 it was found that the cancer had metastasized to his lungs
and there was nothing to be done for him then.
He opted to stay at home and receive palliative care there –
He did not want to be in hospital.
My biggest concern was for his soul!
We went to church as children, our parents were saved, and we went to
Youth group and all the activities available in those days for kids –
but he wasn’t saved.
Daily, I prayed for God to send a nurse into his home who was a Christian
and who would lead him to the Lord.

I visited with Reigh as often as I could.
A very dear friend accompanied me on one trip I took to Halifax.
I spent the day with him and in the early evening we returned home
via the Valley – Highway 101.
As we were driving along the stretch between Coldbrook and Bridgetown –
the sun was shining brightly, the sky was blue with some fluffy white clouds,
and there ahead of us in the sky was the most magnificent rainbow!

Instantaneously I heard a voice in my mind and in my heart saying,
“Don’t worry about him, I will look after him for you.”
I KNEW God had spoken to me and sent His rainbow as a promise to me
that He would look after my little brother!

Almost at the same time as this occurred my friend exclaimed,
“Do you see that? There’s a rainbow in the sky!”
We cried and we laughed, and I KNEW God right there with me!
We were both totally amazed and still to this day if we are traveling together
along that stretch of road we comment on it!

And this is how God looked after him for me!
He answered my prayers!
Hallelujah!

A Christian nurse was assigned to look after him - I had the pleasure of
meeting her and talking with her a number of times!
She called me one day to tell me that Reigh had accepted the Lord
and was ready to” go home”!
Praise God!
I will see him again in that heavenly city!
How surprised - and happy - my mother must have been
to see him arrive there the day he left this earth –
She prayed faithfully for all her children but didn’t see her prayers for him
answered before she went to be with the Lord!

Dear Friends,
I pray that you know that God hears your prayers for your loved ones;
that He does not want anyone to perish;
that He desires for you to call on Him with all your requests,
no matter how little they may seem to you, nor how big!
I pray that you BELIEVE His Word – and all the promises He has for you.
Trust Him today!
Look for the rainbows in your life!
And KNOW you are precious to Him!

Have a wonderful day!
Look around – see His hand in your life!

Resting in HIM,
Ruthie
